Kia Soul vs Honda Fit: Engine Competition

Kia Soul EngineElation will come easily when you take the 2020 Soul or Fit on your daily commute. Their lively engines offer more than enough power to deliver a memorable driving experience. However, Kia took the Soul a step further with an available second engine in the GT-Line Turbo trim.

This is where the Kia Soul and the Fit truly diverge. With the available 1.6L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine under the hood, you'll get a whopping 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque.

Even with the standard equipment, the Kia Soul has the Honda beat. The standard engine in the Kia Soul is a 2.0L inline 4-cylinder that generates 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque. Compared to the Soul, the 1.5L 4-cylinder engine in the Honda Fit offers slightly less when it comes to output with 130 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque.

Additionally, the Kia Soul offers three transmission options: a standard 6-speed manual, an available 7-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (DCT), and an Intelligent Variable Transmission (IVT). With the Honda Fit, you'll miss out on the dual clutch action with just two transmissions to choose from.

Kia Soul vs Honda Fit: Exterior Style

The Kia Soul was originally designed to stand out on any road with its distinctly boxy shape. But the 2020 model takes exterior style a step further with a whopping 17 exterior color choices, including ones you won't find in the Honda Fit, like Solar Yellow and Neptune Blue.

As if that wasn't cool enough, the Kia Soul also offers a handful of expressive two-tone color options with its Designer Collection Package. Make your presence known with Clear White and Inferno Red or Mars Orange and Cherry Black two-tone styling.

On top of that, the Kia Soul offers a variety of wheels to top it all off. Standardly, you'll get 16-inch steel wheels that can be swapped out for 17- or 18-inch alloy wheels. The latter option comes in GT-Line Exclusive and X-Line Exclusive styling.

With the Honda Fit, you won't even get half as many exterior color options. Plus, the biggest wheels you'll get with this model are 16 inches-the base size for the Kia Soul.

Kia Soul vs Honda Fit: Interior Design

Kia Soul Interiornew Kia Soul and Honda Fit have plenty of interior conveniences to please everyone that takes a seat in the cabin, but you'll find the 2020 Kia Soul to have a few advantages over the Fit. Either compact you take for a ride will have standard air conditioning, so you and your four passengers can stay cool in the hotter months. These vehicles also provide comfortable seating that will make it easy for you to find just the right position for long drives.

When it comes to comfort upgrades, though, the Kia Soul is king. This model offers an available 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat with 2-way power lumbar support. Plus, available heated front seats and steering wheel and a dual-zone automatic climate control system will keep you cozy during the cold winter months.

While the Honda Fit offers heated front seats in its top trim level - and its top trim level only - you'll miss out on everything else listed as upgrades for the Kia Soul. Plus, the lack of automatic climate control makes keeping your cabin at a steady temperature much more difficult when you're out on the road.

Finally, to make sure that your phone's battery is always topped off wherever you go, the Kia Soul has you covered with its built-in wireless charging pad. Just set your phone down, and your vehicle will charge up its battery automatically, ensuring wherever you go you'll never be traveling with a low battery.

Unfortunately, you won't find a similar wireless charging pad aboard the Honda Fit. While there are USB ports located in parts of the cabin, charging your phone is overall less convenient in the Fit than it would be in the Soul.

Kia Soul vs Honda Fit: Infotainment Capabilities

Kia Soul TechnologyThe Kia Soul and Honda Fit have audio systems capable of Bluetooth® connectivity. More entertainment options are offered in the Soul, as it comes with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ in addition to six speakers instead of the four in the 2020 Fit. The latter two integration features come standard in the Kia Soul, while you'll have to upgrade from the base trim in the Fit to access them.

While the center-mounted displays in both of these cars are handy, you can enjoy a larger 7-inch touchscreen display in every Kia Soul trim level compared to the Fit's standard 5-inch LCD screen that's without touch capability.

To ensure you can get the most comprehensive infotainment experience possible, the Kia Soul can even be upgraded with an available 10.25-inch touchscreen. With such a large touchscreen at your disposal, you'll enjoy even easier access to your favorite media.

Kia Soul vs Honda Fit: Cargo Capacity

Whether you're picking up a load of groceries or you're taking the family out on a vacation, you're going to need a pretty large cargo capacity. With the Honda fit, you'll have a solid cargo area to work with. When the back seats are standing upright, you'll have a cargo volume of 16.6 cubic feet, that cargo volume expands to 52.7 cubic feet with the back seats folded down.

If you want more space at your disposal though, you're going to want to check out what the Kia Soul has to offer. This crossover is designed with a cargo volume of 18.7 cubic feet behind the back row of seats. If you decide to fold down the back seats, you'll expand your cargo space up to 62.1 cubic feet.

Which Safety Is Best? Soul vs Fit

Automotive safety presides over all other things when searching for a new car. Thankfully, the 2020 Kia Soul and Honda Fit are equipped with Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) systems and Hill Start Assist Control (HAC) for managing the stop-and-go on steeper terrain. You'll also notice that both compacts have a standard Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).

Another feature that you'll discover in the Soul is its Electronic Stability Control (ESC). This added measure of safety improves directional stability by adjusting braking and reducing engine power when necessary.

As 2020 models, the Kia Soul and the Honda Fit also offer several advanced active safety features that act like a second set of eyes on the road. Both offer available Blind Spot Collision Warning and Lane Keeping Assist technologies. However, only the Kia Soul offers Driver Attention Warning, which monitors your driving habits and suggests a break when it detects your attention is drifting.

Kia Soul vs Honda Fit: Advanced Driver-Assistance Features

When you're spending hours on the open road, you don't want to be using too much energy focusing on everything all at once. The Kia Soul and Honda Fit aim to make driving easier with their comprehensive driver-assistance features that work to automate parts of the driving experience for a more comfortable ride.

One of the most helpful features aboard both the Kia Soul and the Honda Fit is the Adaptive Cruise Control feature. Turn this on and your vehicle will regulate its speed automatically to keep you running at the speed of traffic up ahead. Your car will then slow and speed up to maintain a certain distance behind the car ahead of you.

For more technology, the Kia Soul takes things even further with its available Head Up Display. This feature is designed to help you stay focused on the road by projecting key dashboard information up onto your windshield.
